Leatherman Juice S2 Review UK EDC

The Leatherman juice S2 is properly regarded as the best mini multi tool available it is highly praised by many people who review EDC items and for good reason.

The size is absolutely perfect comparable to a Swiss Army knife.

Externally it features a cutting blade the perfect size for EDC and is totally legal in the UK to carry also externally you can access a can opener a bottle opener and a decent pair of scissors.

Opening up you have a decent set of pliers the needle point on this is significant enough to act as a pair of tweezers you can be used for removing thorns hairs et cetera also internally you have three different sized screwdriver bits and a decent well-made posidriver or phillips head in the opposite handle, as well as a lanyard hole.

Nice, function, form et cetera are all absolutely spot-on from an EDC perspective you really can’t go wrong it is probably the best one available for the size.

It will cost you somewhere in the region of £60 or $70 US it’s an essential part of the DC for any serious EDC year I cannot recommend this highly enough.

Just for the record, I did actually purchase this myself or rather traded, this was not a gift from anyone in Leatherman or another company therefore this is a totally honest review as all my reviews are but just to reinforce this this was purchased not a gift that is how highly I rate was told it is definitely 100% perfect.

I was fortunate enough to be sent this to review by Whitby and Co thanks for your extremely generosity, your support helps keep this blog going.

First impressions when it came out of the box was this is a nice big solid Opinel, the bright yellow fibreglass reinforced polymer handles make for a firm and comfortable grip and being bright yellow it’s easy to spot when I put it down! Also available in black/dark grey but I prefer the yellow.

I have EDC’d a standard no7 for years around the house and totally abused it, so I switched out and used the DIY for a few weeks now and am more than impressed.

The blade is nice and broad and pretty damn sharp, measuring in at approx 8cm or a tad over 3″, and locks firmly in place with the locking ring and no blade play whatsoever.

To the base of the blade there are 2 cut outs for cutting and stripping wire, ideal for plug rewiring and these are more than adequate for the job, I found nicking the outer sheath and rotating the wire made for a nice clean wire strip.

Within the handle section itself are 2 bits a cross head and flat head, securely housed, and do not fall out. They are removed and placed in a magnetic bit holder in the base of the knife. As the handle is nice and chunky offering a good grip it makes for a great screw driving tool.

In the 3 weeks or so I have given its lots of indoor pocket time and used it as my go to knife, used it to open letters and parcels, rewired a plug, filled a couple of screw holes with filler, used the blade to carve a recess in some pretty heavy duty plastic on the battery cover of my Vespa (Vespa’s totally rock by the way) for the wire of a permanently fixed trickle charger wire to be accessible.

The biggest challenge was to unbox, assemble and cut down all the packaging for my new BBQ, which is a beast of a machine. It cut the strapping and boxes with ease, and the driver bits performed well on all screw sizes, then admirably the blade made short work of cutting the cardboard packaging into manageable sized flat pieces for the recycling collection. The task took 2 hours and the Opinel performed faultlessly.

Running in at a £19.99 from here it is good value indeed, I shall continue to carry it about the house and it’s one of those items if I lost it I would go and buy a replacement straight away.
