This is the much talked about Lansky World Legal, i have seen them for a while and did not really want one as they looked too bulky, aggressive, weighty, and it seems massive.
As I was walking past a nice little shop in Plymouth called Pull The Trigger i saw one and decided to get it to review.
First impressions were it was built like a tank and felt as solid as one it immediately grew on me and I immediately thought it was lovely, solid retention upon opening and closing and it sat nicely in the hand, it seemed to melt into it.
Its not made of the best steel but pretty damn sharp out the box, it’ll cut paper cardboard and string easily and the little recurve near the tip is ideal for packaging.
The scales are made of nylon and not overly grippy but the gimping on the handle makes it feel a part of your hand.
Having EDC’d it for a week it sits in the fob pocket of my 501’s nicely, as well as cargo pocket and side vent pocket of my dossing around the house trousers. You know you have it on you it is pretty weighty.
I will not EDC it any further its too big and heavy, ill revert back to a SAK. I am not sure what I will use it for its not fit for purpose for a particular task, to big to EDC, it looks aggressive, more like a weapon than a tool, more suited for a utility knife about the house I feel, I’ll probably put it in my BOB in the car.
There are a couple of negative points I fee I should mention, the nail nick is superfluous no way will you open it with your nail it’ll rip clean off, also the “snap” on it on closing is vicious more like a guillotine than a knife say goodbye to anything that gets between the blade and the handle.
I have a love hate relationship with it, if I lost it I would not get another but I wouldnt sell it either.
Available just about everywhere for around the £15 mark its worth buying one just to check it out.
I could not get the individual knife so had to get it with the Lansky blade medic combo, which I did not really want, however, this is a great bit of kit ideal for sharpening serrations too.
Check out the video for a better idea.
I was fortunate enough to be sent a UCSK for review by Luke and Sam at Polymath Products Greatly appreciated your kind generosity helps keep this blog alive.
This compact survival kit is based on the carrier being a Shot Gun Shell and the contents within are at hand to aid you in a survival or emergency situation.
Aesthetically this is a pleasing package, and the contents are well thought out and combines all that would be needed to cover the basic survival tools.
Small enough to slip in your pocket as EDC or when needed, in a small day hike bag or in your outdoor wear gear pockets.
This product punches well above its weight which is only 45g incidentally.
Remove the split ring and push on the exposed rod to access the contents which are.
1 Metre or 550 Paracord on the outside.
Compass at base of shell.
The Split ring.
The Cartridge.
Condom.
Scalpel blade.
2 water purification pills.
Fire Steel Striker.
Ferro rod.
2 x 1 metre brass snare wire.
Glow stick.
8 metre of 6lb fishing line.
2 x size 10 Swivels.
2 x size 8 hooks.
2x size 10 hooks.
Sewing needle.
2 x Safety Pins.
The above all speak for them selves, but an enclosed sheet offers ideas and suggestions of how to use the items to grow the kit, for example use the shottie case as a water purifier by inserting charcoal and a cloth filling up the condom and placing in a sock for support, also using the shell and ferro rod as an improvised stopper for you improvised carrier.
These guys have demonstrated immense knowledge and intellect in the contents and uses for this kit, which is probably the best I have seen.
The cost? £9.99 inc delivery! for a tenner you cannot afford to be with out this. This product and thier others sell themselves, I can see great things coming for these guys.
