LuminAID inflatable illumination device.

I have been lucky enough to be loaned for review the LuminAID illumination device, I cannot classs it as a torch although it could be used as the one to be fair. Anyhow Jon at Everydaycarry has loaned me this and he uses it for family camping trips.

Love this handy illumination device definitely on my to get list.
This foldable inflatable bag has a solar power charger on the outside which will produce a full charge in approximately 6/7 hours, this will produce approximately 16 hours of light and the inflated bag gives a nice glow and plenty of illumination for a tent, caravan or back up light source.

It has a handy clip to keep it folded ad can be placed anywhere in direct sunlight to charge, it could also be secured or dangled from a back pack if you were hiking.

Really nice simple design and easy to use.

Costing £21 from here

I have been very fortunate as Jon from everydaycarry a UK based supplier of EDC items has lent for review the wonderful Nitecore MT26 torch for review, thanks Jon your support help my site keep going.

This is a beast of a torch offering 800 lumens on max power enough to light the street up.

Also has a owner programable mode accessed by rotating the head slightly and cycling through the preset modes and selecting the desired one for storage, tis can be changed at will, returning the head to the locked position resumes the full 800 lumen setting.  This is nice as although 800 lumens is the big wow factor, if your trying to read a map for example you will only get glare and the map will be unreadable.

Other settings are (battery run times in brackets)

  • 25 lumens (45hrs), 78 lumens (17hrs 30mins), 250 lumens (5hrs) & 800 lumens (2hrs)
  • Strobe mode
  • SOS mode

The torch runs on one 18650 rechargeable Li-ion battery or two 3V CR123A Lithium batteries.

It also comes with a nice set of accessories

  • Clip
  • Holster
  • 2 O rings
  • Anti roll insert
  • Lanyard
  • Spare rubber clicky

Not a cheap torch at £55.95 but a real power house, ideal for security, police, night workers and bushcrafters and survivalists.

Jon is soon to offer a 15% discount for my subscribers across his site, i will publish details once received.

Available from everydaycarry

Great little key ring torch supplied by EDC gear, could also be clipped to bag, ruckie, clothing etc.

First impressions were it looks really cool and the clip is really secure and snaps closed with authority.

Great little feature is it can stand on its edge for a candle type effect.

Hit the on switch and you know it’s on!, the edges of the torch by the LED are beveled giving a nice spread of light and its in your face BRIGHT and I mean real bright. It’s now resident on my key ring and there it will stay!

What makes this little torch better than all others I have seen and used, is the functionality it offers, press on and keep holding the button and the torch starts at low power and steps up to full power and you can stop at brightness required, same in reverse, one click and its on max power press and hold and it dims down to min power.

Another speciality is 5 safety or flashing modes.

Slow, medium and fast strobe, SOS and Morse code mode (Signal mode)

Weighing in at about 10g and the size of a £1 coin its small and really compact, and the battery is easily replaceable.

Pros
Size and weight
Strong clip
Tactical look
Functions
And of course it’s brightness

Cons
Absolutely none

This really punches above its weight at the cost of £.7.45 available from EDC Gear a great online store for the UK EDC people as well as preppers and survivalists.
