Great day on lovely Dartmoor
Hi All.
Please check out the YouTube review of my 3 personal EDC watches.
Enjoy.
As usual please follow video for full review.
This is version two of the fire kit by Polymath products are great little company run by Sam and Luke who are based in Somerset in the UK, they design and manufacture all their products at their base, so hats off to the lads for some great innovative ideas and keeping in the UK.
This updated version features a couple of small refinements based on customer feedback you can Sam have received.
It has the same aesthetically pleasing shot gun shell design which incorporates a ferrocerium rod, a slight change has been made to the striker where as before it was an alloy based material it is now a hacksaw blade version featuring the ranger band for extra grip and also this can be used to start a fire as well as the rubber will burn slow and hot if needed.
It’s still features 10 jute twine sections which are waxed which is a great aid starting a fire, it also features a combustive powder which takes a spark really well and throws it a nice flame which is really hot it catches the twine quite nicely when used as a tinder stick used as a kind of improvised match.
They have removed the thermometer part on the bottom and replaced it with a strike anywhere match paper, they have also incorporated a safety match striking area inside the cartridge as well.
Great little kit to keep on your person when you are hiking on the moors backpacking fishing hunting camping doing survival bushcraft weekend and tasks etc, or just leaving your car just in case.
You really can go wrong by buying this, the kit itself cost £8.99, get yourself a refill kit so you can have a good few practices and a few spare bits, to re stock when used, this will bump the price up by a few pounds for £12.99 not a lot of money for something that will pretty much make a fire anywhere this even works when its wet.
Little kits so really quickly so make sure you get yours and a couple for Christmas presents from polymath products follow the link HERE also check out the other items they sell as well and keep watching this blog as I’ve got a couple more items form the guys to review in the coming weeks.
Check out the video for much much more information.
